What's Snowkiting?

What's this Snowkite thing all about anyways?

Snowkiting is a great way to get around in the winter. Simmilar to sailing, the kite acts like a sail for the skier or snowboarder, allowing them to go wherever they want to. The video below is a great example of what a simple snowkite can do.

  1. The first time I had a chance to try snow kiting was with the free snowkite demonstration Martin Hanzalek put off last year at Pippy Park in St. John's. I had always wanted to try snow kiting but never had an opportunity to try and was always a little nervous about trying. When I saw Marty Hanzalek was offering a free intro lesson last Valentine's day I had to jump onto the opportunity and I have been hooked on snow kiting ever since. Thanks for introducing me to the best sport ever!

  2. "Humber Valley resort still struggles with regaining a solid hold Newfoundland and Labrador's Tourism market but Newfoundland as a whole is doing fantastic" says Marty Hanzalek in a update interview with the UK Guardian Newspaper http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2007/jan/28/skiing.wintersportsholidays.canada?page=2 "Western and Eastern Newfoundland is maintaining strong growth in the Travel and Tourism sector, and with a flight time of only 4 hours from London's Heathrow Airport, you can't blame the world for wanting to come here and experience this pristine part of Canada". Martin Hanzalek has operated My Newfoundland Adventures for the last 10 years and now owns and operate the Newfoundland Electric Bike Company in St. John's Newfoundland

  3. Great to see world class snow kiting available right here in Newfoundland. The tablelands are award winning when it comes to terrain, snow volume, and snowpack stability. Can't wait to get out there again this year!

  5. I have watched Martin Hanzalek be directly involved with the environment, conservation, and adventure tourism for the better part of a decade here in Newfoundland and I can honestly say it has been a real pleasure working with Marty. I especially have a soft spot for alternative transport like electric bikes and I am thrilled to see him bring these to the scene here in St. John's. I am also very pumped about snowkiting this year (probably cross country style)

  6. Nice to see Hanzalek continuing to push the Snowkite scene in Newfoundland and Labrador! You may not have the same mountains as we have in British Columbia but you sure have great wind and snowpack. Keep the videos coming!
